It is very important that you choose the right consultant. The Immigration Advisers Licensing Act creates a licensing regime for individuals who provide immigration advice. It's purpose is the promotion and protection of consumer interests receiving immigration advice, and to enhance the reputation of New Zealand as a migrant destination.
Immigration consultants giving advice in New Zealand under law, must be licensed by a regulatory body called the Immigration Advisers Authority (IAA), unless exempt. Licensed advisers must show that they are thoroughly competent & give you clear professional advice with your needs in mind and prepare correct documentation to represent you. They must keep their knowledge of immigration policy and procedure up to date by attending regular Professional Development seminars & follows all government requirements. A licensed Immigration Adviser will provide professional service and play a significant role in assisting and representing migrants, temporary entrants and refugee status claimants under various categories. They are competent to give you advice and information on settlement matters, and are supported by Associate members who provide settlement services.
